Together Everyone Achieves More.
In the early 90’s this was the saying on our football practice tee shirts at Winston County High School. We would wear them on Thursday’s practice and under our shoulder pads on Friday nights. We were also told that if we would work together, not as thirty or so individuals but as one, we would be successful. That year we finished with a 1-10 record. That is one win, and ten losses. So, what was the problem? What did we do wrong? We had our shirts and we wore them with pride. The truth is, we were never really a team. There were too many players with their own agendas as their focus.
You know, church can be the same way. When a group of people get together for a common purpose, to honor and glorify our King, great things can happen. But the same is also true if a church acts like our football team acted. If a few want to do it their way, we will fail. Is what you're telling people helping to build up the church? Or is it tearing it down? Do you have your own agenda? Or the agenda of our King? My prayer is that we are focused on The King and His agenda, and that we as a body bond together as one.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
9 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. 10 For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! 11Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? 12And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him - a threefold cord in not quickly broken.

“What is love… baby don’t hurt me”
Are you dreaming of chocolate strawberries, beautiful roses, candy and romance?
What, exactly, is love?
John, the apostle closest to Jesus, tells us God is love (1 John 4:8).
"In this is love, not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us" I John 4:10-12
You know that so many find it a mystery of God’s love being “perfected” or “completed” in us “if” we love one another.
Valentines Day is always a wonderful chance to show those close to us that we love them. And what a wonderful day that is! But what if we took this opportunity a little further? What if every day was a type of “Valentines Day?” What if we took this opportunity to show “all” of those around us that we love them. Maybe not with chocolate or roses but with a smile and an encouraging word. What if others saw God through us? I mean, God is Love?

New Year. New Beginnings. New Moments.
First of all, let me say how excited I am about this new year, full of new beginnings with new moments!
The good thing about life is it is not one “big moment,” but yet hundreds and hundreds of different
moments. Moments come and moments go. We should be excited about moments to come and
not allow past moments to paralyze us. The wonderful part about Jesus is that he gives us new
moments every day. Every morning the sun rises, and God is calling us to deeper moments and giving us a
chance to start again. Every time the sun rises, His love, wisdom and forgiveness are waiting for us.
His mercies are new every morning. Maybe the last chapter of your life was the best chapter
ever for you, or maybe it was the hardest. Either way, now is your chance to reflect on what should remain in
the past and pray for what you want this year to be filled with. No matter what happened in your last moment, you
get to create and make new moments today. So, as you take the time to reflect today, I would challenge you to
think about what moments you need to leave behind so you can enjoy the new moments ahead.
Take a deep breath and enjoy the fresh air. Fresh air = Fresh moments.
Keep running for The King. You know He is worthy!
